Photo Assistant

Yesterday I assisted a photographer. I like arriving on location a half hour or so early. It gives me time to relax as well as walk around and take some photos of my own with my point and shoot camera. I have minimal technical control of it so I am encouraged to experiment with other means of creativity. Here are a few photos from the beginning of the shoot and during the shoot. Feel free to comment. I know the comment link has had some trouble in the past but it should be working now. If not email me at zachpetschek@zachpetschek.com

HesH SesH 1

I'll post some photos later. On March 31st an event was put into place. To those that attended it was merely some guys with some boxes and rails. To the ones that held the event, it was a reinvention of the past.

At La Mesita Park (once called Dallas Park) in La Mesa, four friends brought four, 2 rails, a quarter pipe, and a kicker ramp to the famous, not so famous cement slab in the middle of the park. skateboarders have been bringing obstacles there for years, but never like this. Many people were invited, and even more stumbled upon it. It was a place where some people felt at home. It was a place you could skate, sit and talk with friends, or just fuck around. It was a resurrection of the Mount Miguel Church skate crew.

The Mount Miguel Church closed in December of 2001 to the dismay of many that called it home away from home. A lot of kids grew up there and a lot of memeories were had there. They were locked away behind the gates for 6 years. Although nothing will ever replace the MMC in our hearts, we have a new place to call home as we all grow older.

Please post any memories you have of the church. I'd like to hear them all. You can check out the photos at zachpetschek.com/Dallas
