The Whaley House

I took a trip into the Whaley house today not expecting much more than a look at a house with relics to the past. I took some photos with some unexplainable "flare" in them. These photos are not photoshopped in any way. Additionally I took a couple just cool shots having no mysterious phenomenon.

This was in the court room. I didn't see any mysterious figures here but it's a good example of what flare actually looks like.

An old scale on the counter in the general store

What's on the table?

These people had some "ghost energy sensors and were having unusual signals in this room. Something weird is going on next to him.

Is something in front and behind her?

I make no assumptions of what happened, but it definitely makes you think.

A Mitch Hedberg clip.

SDNB

I love shooting for San Diego National Bank. They are a happy group of people. Bankers by trade and a bit crazy by night. My last photo of the night was a girl riding a guy like a horse. I just photographed the staff photos for their holiday party tonight. I just hope their next staff rally can size up to this one. I"ll post the photos from it as soon as they are finished.

Condom Fashion Show

This is as creative as it gets. There are outfits for this fashion show made entirely of condoms. They can get away with it in China but in the states I'm sure some soccer mom or gree peace would have some ridiculous complaint about it. Anyways check out this link

Help you help me

I believe that success is a team effort. I have a proposal. I want to reward anyone that refers me in photography. If you refer me for a wedding and it is booked, contract is signed, and the down payment is received, I will pay $100. If you refer me for a portrait and the contract is signed and payment received, I will pay $50. Same stipulations for an event and I'll pay $40. I am only doing this through January. The shoot date does not have to be in January but the booking does. Contact me with the details of your referral and I'll make a payment as soon as payment is received. Thank you

Go Green!

As some of you may know I have a new job installing counters because business is slow. I did it 5 years ago so it's not completely new. While doing this I get to see lots of people houses around the county. I even go out to Indio and Palm Springs. Everyday I am at at least one new house so I get to see a lot of homes.
The other day I went out to Portrero. Way the fuck out in the booneys. It was a retired woman that lived there with her husband. After they retired they decided to build a log cabin. It was a dream house kind of thing. It was pretty frickin cool. Solid logs. I was asking her about how she found information on it and what it's like and everything. She said it's so much better than an ordinary, 2x4's and drywall, house. It is more energy efficient because the logs retain temperature for hours upon hours.
I started thinking about how efficient that is. The sun warms the logs during the day and release it slowly all night. It's a very environmentally friendly house. But what about the logs.
The logs shrink 6 inches as the house settles. That means after you mount the doors and windows and interior walls and stairs and so on, they all have to be adjusted as the logs shrink. This process takes about 6 years! Plus as the wood dries and shrinks it cracks. Not a big deal because it gives the house character without loosing the integrity of the house. Of course that is only for the inside. Outside the cracks need to be filled so they don't fill with water or snow and the water will push the seam apart every winter. The cracks must be filled every year.
She believed that her house was efficient and ecologically friendly but after all of that it doesn't seam to start being efficient for years. That's a lot of solid logs to make the exterior structure of the house.
She was told it was efficient and given reasons that were incomplete thoughts. Does this happen a lot? This woman believes she is good to the environment in her log house but in contrary is quite the opposite. If this example were so obvious in my short encounter with this woman, where else are we being given incomplete reasoning to prove a point that is opposite to the truth? Don't believe everything you hear. It might be just a profit to another

Day at the Beach

Lobster carcass

This is the last thing you would see if you were being eaten by a sea aenenome. Fortunately this is not a spelling b or I'd be f**ked

Hermit crab.

If I can't see you then you can't see me

Yes that's right, this sea ane******me ate a lobster.

This one ate every last bit and he wouldn't let it go for shit

Here are a few photos I snapped while at the beach beneath thousand steps. I didn't want to bring my whole entourage or I might try too hard to get a cool shot. I used my little SD630 and played with the digital macro.

Pablo at Washington Elementary

Pablo Favela took a bite out of the world famous Washington four stair. On a whim, backside big spin, kickflip and back 180. Steezy. Now let's wait and see if Automatic thinks the same.

HesH SesH 5

Thank you to everyone that contributed. John Snay, Courtney Pierce, Crystal Soucie, and Sam Carey. We had more rails than boxes at this event. That is what made the session this time. The element slant rail was beautiful. We set up one rail across the gap and had a regular one before it in a line. The best part was Sam's tall rail. This rail was waist high and heavily sessioned. John Snay back lipped, front board, smith, and lip slid it. Pablo Favela feebled and nollie back lipped it. Rich 50-50 and front B like it was nothing. I had to use a kicker ramp to get up to it but these guys hit it flat fucking ground!

We had plenty of food and the liquids were just sufficient. There was a scare for a few minutes when local authorities started marching across the park towards our setup. In the end they only asked what was happening. Chris Gonzales told them that we were just hanging out and skating because the skate park was closed. Good call. Another success. Next time we have plans for going old school. There are rumors of a youthful activity that is sure to bring hype. I just hope we can get everyone out of it when it's time to go. zachpetschek.com/hesh-sesh5

Jonathan Spooner on Milo's Ramp

John Spooner skating Milo's vert ramp. It was solid steel so it sounded like a roller coaster everytime he dropped in. Bad ass ramp though.

Story

I went to see Shrek 3 a little while ago. I was waiting in the theater before the movie and the commercials were on. One of them was movie trivia. It would give a quote and asked who said it in what movie. The quote was "I'm a black Rambo." So logically a guy yells out "Bruce Willis!"

I started thinking about the scenario that would incur.
Bruce Willis: I'm a black Rambo
Sidekick: You're white
Bruce: I'm a white Rambo
Sidekick: Rambo is white
Bruce: I'm Rambo
: and then something blows up

Keep on Truckin

This has been a long 3 months. The monetary drought is approaching the end. Like with any drought, the first few drops will quickly be absorbed and have little immediate effect. However eventually when the ground is saturated and ground zero starts to float, life will begin to grow again. It has been a long while since I was able to bring the ideas that haunt my thoughts to life. In a few months I can finally create the images that are locked inside my head. I have not created a photo shoot of my own ideas in over a year. It's long over due.

Witch Fire Ashes

On the Saturday after the fires I ventured down Del Dios highway to see the damage. I went with my roommate Randy Laybourne and Dustin Koop. The damage was incredible melted windshields and flattened fiberglass boats. There was the footprint of a fallen tree burning on the forest ground and junk heeps that were once called home sweet home. Here are some of the photos. click the title to see the rest of them.

Night shots

I went out at 130 in the morning to take photos of the eclipse in August. I had fun but I ended up taking more photos of the beach and city at night than the actual eclipse. I love photography. Here's some photos

Work

As most of you know I have been looking for work for 2 months now. I am so broke that I have to borrow money for gas... often. (thank you to those that of you that have helped me) I finally found a place. A position just opened up at Calumet Photo in Escondido. I will be working in the rental department. This is such a relief to me. I have had a couple of side jobs recently that have quickly vanished as I am paying bare minimums on all my bills that will keep me from going into collection.
I have to talk to HR and the president of the company over the next 2 weeks to go over the details of my job so I will be starting in the middle of next month.
Thank you John and Paul Snay and Michelle Oleary and Kate Rice. I gitchu back

Wilderness session

Wilderness was a pool in Santa Barbara. It is going to be destroyed very soon so they can expand the 101. In the 5 years it has been around it has seen a lot.
The house originated as the business location of Wildereness surf boards. As business picked up the house was too small to meet the demand of the surf industry. He relocated but kept the house. The house was nestled between one neighbor and a freeway. Because of the prime location they built a pool. No noise issues and plenty of parking. The popularity of the pool grew but always remained underground to a degree. The famous parties at this echoed of a party house in San Diego.
I am proud that I was able to be a part of history and I am hurt that it will end soon. It will be buried in time like many other skate spots. I'll be posting photos that I have taken there over the years.
Cheers!
